Patty Vasquez is the Assistant Manager at Tao of Wellness. At the beginning of this year, we created a buddy system where each staff member was paired up with one of the doctors. Patty paired up with Dr. Dao and started her weight loss journey. For the past four years, she has been carrying an extra 20 pounds that has been very difficult for her to lose. After eight weeks of taking on the healthy living challenge, changing her eating habits as well as incorporating exercise into her routine, she has lost those 20 pounds. As her buddy, Dr. Dao checked on her every week to see how she was progressing. Patty says that having Dr. Dao as her buddy, helped her to want to eat healthy and lose weight. She says she felt inspired and that this time it felt different because she was ready and focused to accomplish her goal. Being that summer is right around the corner, she felt ready to really give it her all and change her eating habits. Her methodology included eliminating soda, sweets, fried foods, alcohol, and bread while incorporating vegetables, fish, salad, juicing in the morning and drinking lots of water. The ingredients for her juice included: spinach, chard, kale, pineapple, papaya, unsweetened coconut/almond milk. Patty also incorporated part of the Tao of Wellness detox diet protocol by drinking warm water with lemon in the morning and taking our detox and weight loss tea twice a day. Her snacks consisted of hicama and cucumber with lemon. Aside from changing her way of eating, Patty’s exercise program includes one hour of Zumba 3-4 times a week.
When I asked Patty how she feels after having gone through this journey, she says she feels healthier, energized, and much more motivated to work out. She has noticed her skin has also benefited from this new way of eating and living, looking and feeling much healthier.
